Ah, the humble wooden clothespin. Such a simple device, yet somehow so pleasing to the senses. Of its myriad uses, have you ever considered using it as a gift tag?

It's a no-brainer when you think of it. The clothespin serves to identify the gift, while it also holds gift bags and whatnot shut. And after it's served its festive purpose, it can return to its previous pragmatic life. What's not to love?

You can make your own, natch, if you have a steady hand and decent calligraphy skills. Or if you want a more polished look, you can order a set of pre-made pins, such as the ones pictured above, which are created using a heat transfer technique.

Available at the Etsy shop Quotes and Notes, the ready-made clothespins come in two Christmas sets: one set has the message "For you" emblazoned on one side, and the other set contains pins with the words "Peace", "Joy", "Faith", "Hope" and "Dream". You can also custom order a set of pins with the text of your choice.
