Our recent obsession with Prouve chairs (shown above) led us to Dezeen's post on the Club Room at the Wellcome Collection in London, designed by Studioilse. This room is so beautiful, we had to share it. Click below for more photos, information, and links...
The Wellcome Collection is housed in an exhibition center that explores the history of medicine through art, collections of medical objects, readings, and events. In the Club Room, members can gather, host events, and see special exhibitions.
Ilse Crawford (world-renowned designer, founder of Studioilse, and former editor of Elle Decor) planned for the space to have an intimate, private feeling, while still serving its public functions. We think the room has a very balanced mix of old-world gentility and modern crispness.
Our favorite part of the room is the dining area, which wouldn't feel out of place in a city apartment. The chalkboard and stools are a nice touch.
We love the blue-green walls with parquet floors, the mix of light woods and dark leathers in the furnishings, and the enameled light fixtures.
We're not always fans of leather sofas, but this wraparound provides the seating needed for a meeting space, while adding some soft curves to the room.
Little bits of white (in the stools, the throws, and the mats on the artwork) help to lighten the space.
