Cody, a graphic designer and owner of the custom furniture shop Modgrain, his realtor wife, Kamie, and their daughter, Sophia, have settled into one of the hidden gem neighborhoods of Seattle. North Beach is close to the water, has numerous parks with views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains and is a gorgeous area to call home; it has a very California living feel to it.
This artist/woodworker and realtor make quite the dynamic duo. With Kamie's extensive knowledge of the home market in Seattle and Cody's woodworking and building skills they were able to find an incredible home in a lovely neighborhood that they could continue to update to fit their style.
Cody has remodeled the basement, the master and downstairs bathroom, the laundry room, the garage doors, painted the exterior and put a new deck off the kitchen. They still have the kitchen, living room and upstairs bathroom to check off the list but are well on their way to creating what they originally envisioned. They are turning their home into a modern wonderland, and their love of art and design is evident all throughout the house. Besides the incredible remodeling, you can also see Cody's work all over the house like the stunning chest in the living room, the iPad stand in the bedroom, and art projects that he's made with Sophia over the years.

Ercol Bar Stool
Love it! Where is the tall spiky white object on top of the unique living room chest from? It's amazing! And, where are the ruffly red and black pillows from? Great space!
A gorgeous house belonging to people with wonderful taste. I love the cabinet. I will have one similar in my house soon. I'm contacting the company TODAY!
Where did you find the wall mount sink in your bathroom? I love it!
This looks like the fun yet sophisticated home of a creative family. OT, what is the breed of your striking cat, or is it a cross breed?
Great taste! Love to see more of the bed in the master...where did you buy it?
Enjoy!
So bright and open, uncluttered, stylish - love everything about your place!
A 2240 sf hideaway? It's lovely, but I'm not sure hideaway is an apt description.
Where are those great chairs from? The ones with the white cushions and green pillow?
Love the chairs.. They always look great classic style.
Okay I have a million things to say about this house. First of all I bought my first MCM piece yesterday at goodwill and this house is giving me a TON of inspiration. I love the backyard! The credenza makes me flip!! So gorgeous. Love those green chairs. My only two complaints were the bedroom was a little to Scandinavian for me and the picture in the kitchen took me a back little just because they have a child. I think it would have been more appropriate in the bathroom. Just my opinion.
*white chairs with green pillows. my memory is that terrible two minutes after I see something. Or it could be that those pillows tied the whole thing together.
I like their style- but do these people actually LIVE in this house or what? I'm all for eliminating clutter, but I like a little more stuff around to prove that it's not a hotel. Or did they just hide everything away when styling their home for the shoot?
Where did you get that great wood bathroom vanity? I've been looking for one just like it for months!
Very nice clean look.
Beautiful home guys. I love the stone Fireplace with the planter. I have an old home, but it doesn't have anything cool like that built-in, so I'm trying to add one and make it look authentic. I love the cork floors and the closet doors are pretty Neat too! I like the patio chairs also, I've got some I need to redo the wood on. I love the stairs too, reminds me of the Brady Bunch :)
Lovely. PLEASE coudl you share the dining/living room colour? It's such a great yellow.
Amazing elements to this space! And I also love the credenza. But the accessories on and around it are just a little too...too. It gives off the trying-too-hard vibe. To kateydid's point, I don't think more stuff is the key to making the space feel more like home. Just more relaxed stuff. Less stylized and more improvised, I think.
All that said, the major pieces and the architecture are fabulous!
seriously - where did you get that amazing wood bathroom vanity? it's gorgeous!
sigh, homes like this make me depressed. it's just so nice and warm/welcoming yet cool and uncluttered (at least for the photo shoot). i love the two-toned rug in the living room and the flor carpet tile configuration in the dining area-monochrome with a few blocks of color. a great idea worth stealing.
The credenza!! I just died, it's so awesome. Was this one of your own creations? I must have a serious talk with my own woodworking carpenter boyfriend, he's been holding out on me.
The kitty I believe is a himalayan. My favorite cat breed.
It's like a modern Brady Bunch house. I really like it.
I love so many things about this home...the cork "side table", the perfect shade of pink room, the art and the way the art is framed. But I am beyond obsessed with your front door mat. I'm guessing its old but if not, please oh please where is that doormat from???
Love your beautiful home!
Your home is absolutely gorgeous! I love the clean uncluttered look, I have baby stuff everywhere! ;)
Would love to see the kitchen!
Love your house! Any chance you tell me who made your sliding patio doors? I'd really love to know!
Beautiful! Clean yet warm, even cozy.
Beautiful cat, looks like a seal point Birman. I used to have one that looked just like that. He was the most laid back, lovable cat I've ever had.
I love the credenza with the cork. It's a beautiful piece. Am wondering if someone wanted to DIY and wasn't as skilled, could they just paint or stain the cork instead of cut out different styles.
Lovely work, lovely place. Really like the outdoor firepit!
Beautiful house. Where did you find the sink in the master bathroom?
There's SO much to like about this house. Can we get more from the sources list than just a plug for the owner's art and furniture business? Like his stuff too, but also love those basement chairs, the basement bath sink, etc. Heck, even the kids table and chairs in the dining room... Please?
It's hard to get a sense of the floor plan or which floor a room is on, but the space with the stairs and angular wall is fabulous!
I LOVE your Modgrain piece in the living room...could go with NUMEROUS designs. Also, I too would love info on your bathroom vanitity/sinks. Thanks for sharing your great home!
can you please provide info for the master bathroom bathroom vanity and the sink for the other bathroom??? PLEASE!!!!!!
I'll try to answer some of the inquiries.... first, thanks for the nice compliments. Homes are always so much work, and we do what we can!!!
1. The spiky light on the credenza came from a sample sale... there is no brand name on it that I can tell... it's made from sliced coconut!
2. Red/brown ruffly pillows are... from Pier One.
3. The wall mount sink is Lacava. I believe we purchased most of our bathroom fixtures from homeclick.com
4. The cork circles side cabinet is a reproduction of a piece originally designed by Iannone Design. I built it to learn more about the materials and want to make sure that interested readers check out his design/work. His work is inspirational to me... beautiful to say the least!
4. Bed in master is just a slatted frame.
5. The origin of the white chairs is unknown! We picked them up at a yard sale... and pinned a thick white canvas/material around the cushions.
6. Bathroom wood vanity... I made it custom for the space. It's made from 3/4" bamboo plywood and less expensive maple plywood for the interior and unexposed walls. The top is Chroma Crystal White and sink is Kohler.
7. The aluminum sliding doors are made by Milgard.
8. Kids table and chairs came from onestepahead.com
9. The kitchen was not photographed for a reason!!! It's 70s style oak cabinets are in need of a big update! And, the yellowish paint in the dining room is the color from the previous owner, so can't make note of the accurate color.
10. Some of you are absolutely correct. Our house is generally more "lived in" with misc clutter and toys scattered about. In fact... right next to the lovely white chairs (not photographed) is a trampoline and play area that take up half the room!
11. You might be right on the breed of our cat. He's 17 years old and came from my grandmothers farm.... we never really did know!
Oh and the doormat is from
http://www.indiarose.com
Thank you for posting the info for the rest of us!
Thank you! Too bad about the unknown nature of those white chairs. (I just luv them.) But I do understand. We bought our house as-is with all the previous owner's furniture. If we ever finish it enough that I would dare brave a "house tour" I wouldn't have sources for most of what we're up-cycling. And as for looking lived in or not, who would EVER put their house on Apartment Therapy with their everyday mess out for the world to see? I think you did a nice job with the strategic photography and clean-up. Thumbs up! (Would still love to know the source of the basement sink, though.) :)
from Kami to another, I love you place!
sorry I meant YOUR place
Thanks for the suggestions as to this home's cat's breed. I don't know much about cats, and never before saw one quite like that. He's really gorgeous, and looks much younger than his calendar age.
Love this whole place! Where did the cute London-Paris-New York prints come from in the pink bedroom?
I think we got the London-Paris-NY prints from allposters.com (inexpensive print-ordered with frame).
