We all know how much AT cares about "going green" in your household and your daily life. But, hey... green is expensive! We know that it's cheaper and better in the long run to invest in solar panels and energy efficient lighting, but most of us apartment dwellers don't have that kind of up-front cash stored away. So for us, this is a great concept: The Coin Lamp helps you conserve your energy usage at home and save money for those "some day..." projects.
Coin Lamp is the first in a range of products by designer Jethro Macey based on the concept of values and reward.
The lamp is turned on by a coin-operated switch, and the length of time it's on is pre-determined. That means three things: One, the lamp can't ever be accidentally left on. Two, you'll realize when you do and don't need to turn the lamp on. Three, you'll save tons of coin!
Developed with the assistance of a NESTA training program, the final version of coin lamp will be available soon. We'll just have to wait and see if it's something we can afford!

I saw this and immediately wanted to know How Much. My entire family saves - and eventually rolls - its coins. The habit paid for a pair of boots for myself, and a cruise for my mom. My sister uses her for trips to the bookstore. This cute little lamp would look great on a reading table and is so much more attractive than the mason jars/etc that we currently save our coin in.
