If it's getting cold and dreary in your part of the country, here's something to brighten the view when you look out your window: lovely, shiny, icy ornaments filled with birdseed and cranberries. Make it your next rainy day project!

These ornaments are not only nature friendly, they're easy enough for the kids to craft with you too. Handfuls of seeds can be frozen inside a bowl of water (with a glass placed in the middle) to mold the donut shape in the picture above, or simply frozen in a standard ice cube tray.

They might not last long if your winter is fairly mild, so save them for when the temperature drops and you're needing a little pick-me-up.
