Name: Colette (1)
Location: Minneapolis, MN
Color Inspiration: I knew I wanted Coco's nursery to feel airy and bright, so I began by introducing elements in buttery yellows and marigolds (a lamp, a pillow, a mobile). Then I happened upon the bedding at Anthropologie (on clearance and a bargain!) and knew I absolutely had to work it in.
Tip for Using Color: I found that starting with a foundation of neutrals (furniture, rug, walls) made it really easy to layer on color without it getting crazy or overwhelming. To keep things cohesive I tried to limit the color to the warm reds, yellows and bits of olive in the bedding (but I couldn't resist adding a few touches of my all time favorite color, robin's egg, here and there). In addition to having a backdrop of neutrals, working in small hits of "dirtier" colors (like olive and burnt orange) kept the rest of the palette from feeling too primary and expected.
Colors Used: marigold, red, burnt orange, robin's egg, olive green
Thanks for your colorful entry Anne and good luck!

White Enamel Four-P...
I really love this room, so beautiful! I love that it looks clean, bright and yet soft and comfortable..
Colette, your room is beautiful!
Hi, I like your room! What kind of paper was used on the yellow mobile?
My favorite!! Such a happy and pretty room!
This room is delicious! Like eating sherbet on a warm sunny day. Lucky girl!
Oh my god I love it I love it I love it I want to have a girl right this second just for this nursery haha
Fantastique!
really sweet!! great job. what is that rocker- i love it!
This is definitely my favorite so far. Lovely job - very inspirational!
Also where might I be able to find those tiny lanterns? I've seen them once upon a time but haven't stumbled upon them lately.
LOVE!! Where did you find that crib skirt, or did you make it?
Love it! I would definately do this for my daughter if I could. <3
@Sneeka-- You can find those strings of lanterns at World Market (subscribe to their store club for coupons). It looks like flags were attached to the wires to make a lit bunting. So cute, right? I'm eyeing it as a future project, myself!
Colette's Mama here. Thanks for all the kind words, you guys! I'm just basking in the sweet comments. In response to the questions so far:
paper for the mobile: I printed different shades and tints of yellow in cardstock weight on my printer and laminated them together before cutting them into circles.
rocker: Pottery Barn kids (via Craig's List) with an Ikea lambskin on the cushion.
cribskirt: resized queen bedskirt from Anthro (again, on clearance!).
lantern lights: http://www.amazon.com/White-Paper-Lantern-String-Lights/dp/B001BZLWSW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1289253804&sr=8-1 (only $4.99!). And then I attached the paper mini bunting flags.
Thanks again for the love!
My three year old daughter just walked in and saw your room - she loves it! I do too. I love the calm backdrop for these beautiful colors. Perfect. Just one question - what shade of white is on the walls? Hard to find the right white.
Love the room AND the name. I've met four young Colettes in the last year, and I love that my unique name is gracing little cuties these days.
I love how everything is tied in through the fabric of the pillows and such, just the inspiration I needed! Thank you!
This is so beautiful - I am loving every single detail and wishing there were more pictures. Any chance of a full tour?
Love the jumble of patterns. Hurrah!
Love this room, it's so sweet! Where are the aqua storage cubes from?
This room is beautiful, and so fresh! What paint did you use in the room? It is a simple and clean color that works really nicely.
A couple more notes for the recent questions:
wall paint color: "Eggshell" by Behr (it's actually the color name and not the finish, I promise).
aqua cubes: I bought them at Target about a year ago.
And Colette, thanks for your props on the name choice. We love it too. Haven't run into any other Colettes until now!
Beautiful!
Gorgeous! I especially love the pillows - did you make them?
ToniRenee -- I wish I could take credit for the pillows, but it goes to Anthropologie. It's the Alhambra bedding set which I believe they've discontinued now.
Of course - Anthro again! I could live in that store!
This is simply adorable! Would you by chance mind sharing where you found the bed stand? Thanks so much!
