I was so excited to hear that one of my favorite design bloggers, Jessica Comingore of Destined to Design, took a giant leap into the world of online magazines. Jessica along with her friend Krista Schrock spent many late nights and weekends putting together the first issue of Collected and revealed it for the first time last week. The launch party was packed with friends, designers, and artists supporting two women with a vision and a drive to produce a magazine that can compete with the likes of Rue and Lonny.

I asked Jessica a few short questions to learn about the inspiration and process of putting together Collected.

APARTMENT THERAPY: What can readers find in Collected?

JESSICA COMINGORE: Collected's goal is to cultivate a selection of well-edited products and design that highlight the art of refined living. We aim to explore people, places and things with discerning taste while remaining accessible to design enthusiasts. Collected will encompass an array of design, including interiors, graphics, product and packaging, as well as travel, fashion, and food — all of the things that we love and live with everyday. We look forward to sharing our discoveries with you and hope that you find as much inspiration as we do in the beauty of living simply.

APARTMENT THERAPY: What was the process of putting together the first issue of an online magazine?

JESSICA COMINGORE: With both of us having years of experience in the interior design industry (Los Angeles specifically), we have a number of creative friends that either own their own business or shop, so it was a fairly natural process in finding the content for this issue. We approached friends and colleagues we know that share our same, very specific, aesthetic and all of them were kind enough to jump on board and lend us a hand. Likewise, we were lucky enough to have an immediate network of friends (and family members) who write, photograph and cook that believed in the concept of this magazine and stepped up to the plate when we pitched the idea. It was the combined talents of a very select group of people that made this magazine a reality.

APARTMENT THERAPY: How often will new issues be published and is Collected available in print?

JESSICA COMINGORE: This was a labor of love and at this time we are set to be a biannual publication, but looking to grow into a quarterly should the right advertising opportunities come along. It is solely dependent on funding at this moment.

Right now it is only online. We are in the process of setting up a printed version to purchase on Mag Cloud, as well as a downloadable PDF version.
