cool.. this might be the post that pushes people to paint daringly...including me.
Yes, I've been depressed in my new apartment because I haven't painted. Everything just looks so much better with a little paint behind it.
Just make sure to get a flat (matt, or eggshell) paint....it shows less inperfections of the wall.
I love the act and the feel of painting. It is something so creative and constructive! Your life instantly changes deeply somehow.
Oh and I also wanted to say THANK YOU to apartmenttherapy.com for all the good work you do. Your place is such an inspiration, and to me inspiration is happiness!
My sister used semi-gloss since her house is brand new and the walls are (obviously) in great shape. It adds alot of dimension to the space. But I agree that anything glossy is NOT GOOD if your walls are crap.

The color is Benjamin Moore Tequila Lime and it contrasts well with exposed brick, plus brings nature into a room with no windows. Painting the middle of my rental apartment with a vibrant color allowed me to leave the kitchen and bedroom white without being too bland overall.
