Rain last night. The hydrangea is fading in the first days of fall. But a few new buds have appeared.
What are the first colors of Fall? Certainly they are the fading colors of summer; almost the decay of the strong summer colors. Our hydrangea offers a lovely palette of the transition: blues, greens and magentas. We selected some of the colors this time to make real chips.

The hydrangea colors of the color chips are right on--but so are a thousand others! I'll bet that if you asked 100 people to pick a set of color chips based on these flowers, you'd get a hundred different palettes.
