This color combo always makes us feel all snuggly and warm when the temperatures take a dip. It sets a dark, reflective scene, and one in which we are more than happy to curl up with a hot cup of coffee.
From bruise-colored browns to lighter natural linens, we love pairing the earthy hue with deep dark plum. Perhaps it's that these muted colors are found so much in nature and foods at this time of year, but it seems a no-brainer of a pairing.
What do you think? Are you equally comforted by browns and plums together?

Lovely palette. So rich and earthy - perfect for fall!
this is essentially my bedroom combo.
LOVE IT!
love the combo although i wouldn't call most of those purples shown "plum" one of them is a pastel. no actual plums have crossed my plate in decades but i recall they're a deep purple with a sort of brown undertone. a natural complement for brown.
Wow, what a great combination! I guess it's taking me by surprise because I generally turn away, avert my eyes, with anything plum colored. So, for instance, I could never live with that wall, but the pop of plum on the cover? Bring it on! It's a good idea that's just a cover, I'd have to change it after one season with it but for now I find it really warm and snuggly.
I knew some one whose bath walls were painted lavender. It was amazing how they turned a pretty cafe au lait as the sun set. Some purples and browns are natural together.
This is our bedroom too! We have a bitter chocolate accent wall and I bought an inexpensive brass chandelier off of Craigslist and painted it plum. It's so dark and cozy, I think it's raining and cloudy every morning. (Not so good for getting to work on time...)

Number two is my favorite. It's so calm and peaceful.
Purples and plums usually (not always) make me anxious. Not relaxing at all to me.
That first pic--cited original source unknown is from Martha Stewart, several years ago. I've been thinking about that picture/palette a lot lately--gorgeous!
in a former house I decorated the dining room in these colors. It was a wonderful effect, warm, elegant, with antique wow furniture. the only problem was finding matching curtains, in the end i choose beige raw silk with embroidered leaves in orchid, brown and plum. But now a different house, theres no matching room any more for them.
What is the name of this brown color? I love it! I want to paint my bedroom this color.
