Crisp and clean, Holly's office has a peaceful vibe by using simple color combos of cream, silver and white. Lending a hand to the streamlined look of the office space is a chrome bookcase that reminds us of Liz's metro shelving...
The space feels upbeat and bright because of the light color palette and silver accents coming from the classic clock, chrome bookshelf and steel wire mesh chair. The bookshelf doesn't look cluttered because Holly uses translucent magazine files that keep colored book spines hidden--which helps stick with the clean color palette. Instead of a floor lamp, Holly makes use of an industrial clip on light which beams light towards the ceiling, adding to the bright office corner.

ehm... sorry... but I find this incredibly dull... and what a shame to place this very cool iMac on such an incredibly uncool desk... sorry :/

A little too stark for me, but if they really want to go for a silver white color scheme that desk is holding it up big time. The computer on a white or gray desk might make the look more cohesive.
You don't have to apologize... Can you recommend any desks that can accommodate a large-scale printer and scanner in a small footprint? The one in the photo is over 10 years old.
Thanks,
Holly
yikes. that desk has got to go.
where's the "after" photo?
I do very much like the bookshelf, though.
I quite like the Mikael workstation from IKEA... not sure what colour it comes in this season but I'm sure they have a white one http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70079212
White, Cream and Chrome can make for a breezy and elegant room...
(Gold/Brass would actually be better and richer looking than Chrome)
...but this isn't it.
I'm not sure the color scheme is what makes the room work -- I think it's the fabulous bookshelf, Bertoia chair, and Mac (plus the great clock). Someone without Holly's eye for design could use the very same color scheme and get blah.
I actually thought the desk was a retro thing -- sort of like the now-popular 70s push-button phones that used to be considered monstrosities (one of my friends' design-conscious mothers hid hers under skirted furniture).
My criticism isn't going to be constructive. The desk is kind of ugly, but go it! for having been around for 10 years. And can white and silver really be a color scheme? Isn't that just white and shiny white? If the wall was painted, gray, maybe that would make everything else pop. Right now it's blah. But great shelf.
What a bunch of haters you guys are. Attractive ergonomic desks are difficult to find.
Seriously, folks. Have you seen what most people's home office spaces look like? This is pretty cute.
I agree with most of the posters: love the chair, the bookshelf and the clock...but that desk makes the whole thing look like my senior year college dorm room. I think it would look lovely if you could find a simple wooden desk second hand and paint it white, or a very light grey! My computer set up appears to be very similar to yours, and I had no problem finding a desk on craigslist that could accomodate all my peripherals without taking up too much space.
Holly--you've fit a lot into a small space and it's organized & not messy. That's more than I can say for my "office" thanks for sharing!
What about that West Elm Parsons desk in white? You could rig the drawer to be a keyboard shelf.
Hate to be boring, but like everybody else, I completely LOATH and despise the desk... LOVE everything else. But, I dunno, it is a bit drab... I mean...some...ANY...color would be good here. It just looks a bit too much like a BEFORE photo. Even if the cool and nifty vase was a color it would add just so much. Admittedly, I am biased... I am not a big fan of the all white look.
