Fall for Olive Green

Color Inspiration

Consider the olive. Bold, fruity, elegant, and sophisticated. An emblem of peace and a symbol of health. It's one of those versatile colors that can accommodate a range of styles depending on how it's used and what it's paired with. From fresh and funky to dark and dramatic, here is some inspiration to get you thinking about olive green in a whole new way.

Far from the drab olive popularized in 60s and 70s decor, the new olive greens are surprisingly vivid and energizing. Here are some of our favorite hues:

  • Benjamin Moore's Brookside Moss (2145-30) is a light, modern olive that would look fresh and clean against bright white trim or paired with a pale blue such as Gossamer Blue (2123-40).
  • Glidden's Truly Olive is a deep, warm olive that would look sophisticated in a living or dining room. The yellow undertones of Spanish Olive, on the other hand, would be calm and serene paired with white linens and natural fiber accents.
  • Ralph Lauren's Olive Tree (VM102) is a dramatic brownish-olive that would make a stunning backdrop to well-worn leather with red accents or tribal prints. Consider it for a small space such as a nook, study, or accent wall.
  • Sherwin-William's High Strung (6705) is a bold yellow-olive that would brighten up a kitchen or add whimsy to child's room.
  • Pratt and Lambert’s Thyme Green (1662) is a soft gray-olive that would complement cream and warm wood tones in a more traditional setting.
