Common plants are usually common because they are easy to grow, but making them interesting by surrounding them with unexpected color is an easy trick to play.
I have written many times about this subject and thought I would gather some of my favorite gardens and inspirations for playing with color from around the web.
Diarmuid Gavin is an Irish Garden Designer who makes fantastic gardens for British TV. His creativity and his ability to constantly surprise is a huge design inspiration. This colorful garden is no exception and I am loving that he has used cool technology to present the process from beginning to end in such an interesting way.
I had a lot of fun coming up with the rainbow of garden color inspiration (image 1) — if you want to see the full images of the gardens that they belong to, take a look at this post at Studio 'g'.
Similarly, the french garden wall (image 2) by Slow Gardens and the purple garden wall in the desert (image 3) by the Quercus Group are convincing examples that even the brightest of colors (vibrant violet purple) can work outside.
