Chartreuse is one of those colors that defies categoriziation. Is it yellow? Is it green? One thing is for sure: chartreuse is hot right now.
This peculiar color occupies a sort of no-man's-land between green and yellow. It's less saturated than lime, not quite as dark as olive. Chartreuse the color takes its name from Chartreuse the liqueur, an herbal concoction with a distinctive taste to match its unusual color.
I also find chartreuse to be a rather polarizing color, much like pink - you either love it or you hate it. It's hard to be ambivalent about a color this bold.

Sheex Bedding
I am a big chartreuse fan. In fact, I'm looking for a duvet cover in chartreuse, but have stumbled into a bunch of dead ends. Any suggestions?
I love chartreuse.
I have an unreasonable love of chartreuse. It brings a lot of light into a room (fantastic in the basement laundry room and to liven-up my closet shelves. and it surprisingly rocks well with a lot of accent colors and metalic finishes. I have to actively restrain myself from over-doing it. ecochic, Ikea might have some duvet offerings...Target has a color palette in their mid-range bedding that includes chartreuse...
Best color EVER!!! CHARTREUSE!!!
Thank you for not saying "grellow."
I tried to do chartreuse in my dining room, but it turned out too green (despite using samples). Has anyone had luck with a brand and color name they remember?
ecochic - cb2.com uses a lot of chartreuse. Right now they have one duvet set that is grey and chartreuse. If you don't like that one keep an eye on the store because they'll probably have more chartreuse whenever they add bedding.
Actually, funny chartreuse story:
My friend had a pet parrotelet - a tiiiiiiiny little parrot. Really adorable. He was bright greeny-yellow, so she named him Chartreuse. But, as pet names tend to do, "Chartreuse" eventually evolved and shortened into "Chart" ... pronounced, um... "Shart."
*snicker*
A- I adore this color, it was the color of my Grandma's living room.
B- I second EC. Grellow is an ugly word and not worthy of the beauty of this color.
I have a weakness for chartreuse bedding. In the summer, I throw DVF's chartreuse coverlet on our bed. In winter, I rotate in Dwell Studio's "Sketch" print duvet cover with neon yellow trim. It's such a happy, modern color.
For those not adverse to ordering online, the Bubu 1er stool from YLiving is the perfect color of chartreuse (they sell it as "light green opaque"). It's the perfect size for that pop of color!
Love chartreuse! It has become big factor in my bathroom decoration-- thanks to a healthy dose of chartreuse it is my favorite room right now!
I love chartreuse, but be warned that if you paint an entire room this color it may very well be too much. I did it and it looked great during the day when it was sunny, but at night felt very heavy and created a sort of nuclear glow of light down the hallway when I tried using CFL's. It was Pear Green from Benjamin-Moore I believe.
I love chartreuse, never fails to be uplifting and 'new'..I used 'pale avacado' for the best shade for me.Ben Moore..Pear Green didn't work at all for me...tried it. It was 'too much'. The pale avacado looks beautiful in a sunny room or shaded room with bright white trim..It's just the right green/yellow.. : )
I don't particularly love chartreuse, but somehow my bedroom is covered in little pops of it. I really love mid-century, retro furniture and accessories and a lot of the pieces I've collected happen to be chartreuse. An equal number also happen to be red. It somehow totally works, although never in a million years would I have intentionally paired the two.
Give me grey and chartreuse any day!!! I just "Pinned" the crazy out of this page, by the way :)

So that's what the color is called. I have two shades of "chartreuse" for my living and dining room. It always confuses people because during the day it looks more yellow but at night it looks green and my roommate asked if I've painted recently in spite of having lived with me for 6 months.
I like chartreuse, especially with a greenish blue like turquoise or aqua and red accents. It's ambiguous to discuss chartreuse without using pics because many different colors are called chartreuse. Some are delicate and some are loud. People who think they hate chartreuse might like another color they don't know also is called chartreuse.
I just painted my TV console that color, too!
Oh dang, that one picture is making me want to reconsider my wedding colors.
This probably sounds ridiculous, but I just realized: my hallway is chartreuse! I just picked a nice yellow-y green that went well with the teal/french vanilla/brown of the rest of the downstairs.
I think I love it even more, now (especially since I called it baby poo green after the first coat).
Thank you!! I've been looking for the right chartreuse to paint my kitchen since last fall! This helps a lot!
Interesting how well chartreuse goes with dark brown in these photos.
When I told people that I was painting my bedroom chartreuse, they all looked horrified and I admit that I had a few second thoughts as I was applying the paint, but it's my favourite room in the house now and I'm so glad I didn't listen the 'neutral everything' crowd.
I love this color! I used it to brighten up the chocolates and creams in my living room and kitchen. My apartment is so bright & cheery now! I also threw in 2 dark fuchsia chairs as accent pieces. Everyone (esp. me) loves it!
