Another color I just can't get enough of is kelly green. Every time I see it - on a coat, on a chair, on a wall - my heart skips a beat.
The name "kelly green" for a color originated in Ireland - this is not hard to imagine, since both the color green and the surname "Kelly" are quite common there. The first recorded use of "kelly green" as a color name in English was in 1917. This particular shade of green is highly saturated, but leans a bit more towards yellow than an emerald green. What I love about this particular shade is its versatility - it manages to be both cool and warm at the same time.
When using kelly green in your house, try to keep the rest of the color palette relatively simple, so the green can really shine. Or, if you're feeling adventurous, pair your kelly green with a little bit of aqua, or even hints of cobalt blue.

My name is Kelly Green and I approve this message.
There are a lot of talented people out there, who can make kelly green work so wonderfully - and any other color in the rainbow - it just so happens I'm not one of them. My, now history, kelly green wall just reminded people of a putting green. A very, very green, putting green.
I love that dresser! Can anyone tell me what style that is? I know it is at least asian-influenced but that has not helped me find one. Even just the hardware would be great so I could upgrade my ikea dresser.
Thanks Nancy for posting my kelly green campaign dressers from Lonny Magazine. :)
Exaltron: its called "campaign style".
Too bad green paint is highly unstable, and even today, most green paint contains some levels of toxicity. Whatever you paint green will leech out the chemicals in the actual paint. I love green, but be responsible when using green because it's bad for your health and the environment.
Love kelly green!
Yuck. I had crayon-green floors in my loft once. What was I thinking ? Life got better when I painted them grey.
am I the only one giggling because according to motorbikebeat, green isn't well, green!
I love many shades of green.....just not this one. A touch here or there is okay but never on walls or floor.
I really like the green anchored with the black and white. Not as big of a fan where it is used together in the bedroom with the brown and white. A very bold color choice for walls, but I do like it in the living room picture.

It is a very fresh colour, however as shades of green tend to date themselves, I would rather see this colour as an accent using accessories not expensive fixed elements.
Love Kelly Green, but its definitely not everyone and not in every space.
Love this colour!!
Uggh ! almost as bad as Hunter green.
i love this! i normally prefer more of a lime green but the green mixed with the black and white floors are pretty fab!
@Turquoise, thanks so much, I looked on ebay and man are they expensive. Guess I will have to do what you did and restore one myself :D
Incidentally I had my own little foray into Kelly Green-world with this green and black motif: http://imgur.com/cq4jW
Good concept, but it wore on us after a while, even in natural light. Hopefully I can make my piece with the brighter greens someday..
i love the nature esp. because of the green color. when i look around my apartment i can see a bit olive and mint but not this heavy green. it would make me nervous.
Exaltron - Craigslist is your friend for campaign furniture! There's quite a bit out there - and a lot of people don't know what to call it (which is fine by me...b/c that usually means a better deal!)
Just be sure you get real wood and not particle board...happy hunting!
I love that the writer tells us the color green is quite common there
It's pea green.
saw a big, plain, wide kelly green front door today (on an entry which is the only visible part of the set back, downhill, house on a crowded hilly street) next to an evergreen cut into dozens of cubes and it made my day.
I just picked out the most beautiful kelly green tiles for the backsplash over our range - in an all white kitchen. Just thinking about them makes me happy!
@ Exaltron -
You can easily customize a cabinet with some oriental hardware. Check out this store:

Yummy :D
I don't know why, but kelly green always invokes thoughts of Europe. It's a color I associate with small flats, quirky rooms and the '70's! (NONE of which are a bad thing)
@whale, Agreed.
Kelly Green has always been (and i presume always will be) my favorite color. I could paint anything that color and I wear it often. I love that you featured it so prominently!
El verde para la ropa me encanta, un amigo me decía que el verde a pocos les queda bien. Y estoy con él, pero para la decoración es uno de los colores mágicos que dan calidez a la vez que alegría.
