There's something about lavender — it's feminine but also modern, girly but grown-up. And it holds its own with bolder colors like tangerine or bright orange — soft, but also strong.

Nomade Express Slee...
I didnt like any of these and the egg plant in the bowl to match the cabinets was at best corny.
I love lavender! I've always thought it was a great color for a bedroom, as in pics #1 and 6.
I hate to quibble, but most of these look lilac to me, not lavender. Maybe it's just my computer. But lilac IS more purple, and lavender is more bluish. But aside from fussing over what the color is, I like most of these rooms. And I think girls with green eyes look fabulous in this shade.
This is one color I have a hard time wrapping my head around in home decor. Kind of funny, because this was my favorite color when I was a little girl. As far as my personal taste, none of the examples above really spoke to me, though I'm fascinated with the idea of finding a way to make it work in a way that I would like. Hmm....
Nice selection. As a child I stayed away from "girly" colors. But in early middle age, I've grown to love pink and purple shades in moderation.
I think lavender and lilac are delectable with warm grays or gray-browns--and almost masculine too. That purple kitchen is ker-a-zy but I'd consider a gray kitchen with a purple island or free-standing cabinet. Yum!
I used to really, really dislike lavendar (or lilac. or light purple.), but now I find I like it quite a bit.
The only one that speaks to me is image 8. I think lavender/lilac is best offset by that particular aquamarine blue in the rug and the celadon and moss greens in the artwork. The gray of the table and the tan/taupe of the rough fireplace warm up the otherwise cool colors. Beautiful composition!
When I was 13, back in the Olden Days (1963) my parents built a new house. It's a split level with an upstairs family bath and a downstairs lav. The family bath has (to this day, sad to say) lavender fixtures (sink, bathtub, toilet) and lavender vinyl flooring (with silver glitter in it!) God, it's hideous! (For a while the walls were pink!!! I can't remember from my last visit but I think at least Dad has painted them white, now.)
I despise lavender as a decorating color. The only example above I can stomach is number 8, because the lavender is almost not noticeable, and it works with the other colors that are nicer. But I admit my bad experience "colors" (ha!) my viewpoint, and nobody needs to agree with me.
Lavender is lovely but why no black and lavender rooms? Dark rooms with lavender accents make me want to fall in love with inappropriate men. More black pleae!
so feminine & pretty!
