Years ago when I told my friends that my favorite color was mustard, they would cringe. Lucky for me, it looks like others are beginning to pine for the warm glow of this fantastic shade of yellow. Paired with a deep grey or a cool blue, mustard can add a dramatic touch to any space. The best part about this color is that it is bright enough for spring and summer, yet pairs well with a fall color palette.

In my day, we called that Harvest Gold. It went with Avocado Green.
no thanks
I knew I had good taste! My wife hates the lvingroom but now I know I'm not the only one that likes mustard and grey. Thanks A.T.!

hmmmm not sure about the examples above, and the gray needs to be paired carefully to prevent the outcome looking flat and 'officey'. That couch looks more custard than mustard.
bdsmith21- love what you did with the books and the lamp!
cool, that. I have some yellow tinged with a slight green chairs and want a contrasty gray - and I'm confused.
Is mustard only yellow tinged with red or is it also yellow tinged with green? I see both in the photos above (although I'm not overly good at seeing the undertones, so I could definitely be wrong...)
Color is complicated.
Does anyone know who made the mirrors in de first pic?
I thought of the lovely peakcock duvet set that I just ordered from DwellStudio: http://www.dwellstudio.com/peacock-citrine-duvet-set.html
That shot just begs to be captioned "Catalog Living" style...

(not my site, I just find it funny)
I guess the book-endtables look alright. It's really just temporary until i get real tables.
there are a few more pictures here if you want http://www.flickr.com/photos/bdsmith21
I guess "grellow" is so last week...
I've used mustard for several years now as an accent colour. It makes a wonderful bridge between natural wood and more saturated colours like red or green.

I just started collecting a bunch of mustard for my apartment! It has become my accent color amidst all the white, black, and gray tones. Good to know I'm "in style".
I don't quite dare go the full mustard, but I recently purchased this Asian antique pantry cupboard stained a mustard color (3rd picture down). It gets delivered in 2 weeks and is going against a feature wall that is a dark grey brown - can't wait to see it! I love mustard!
@sistervashti, word.
I was a child of the '70s, so this color scheme is not exactly new to me.
But if this appeals to you, do what you will, only I beg of you, draw the line before you start ordering that harvest gold-colored, vinyl-textured refrigerator and range.
Not a fan of mustard. It's a very unforgiving color and unflattering to most skin tones, did you know?
Good! I'm painting the inside of the kitchen cabinets then!
We went with a mustard/yellow paisley print duvet (pottery barn) for our bedroom re-do, but just as a main accent color. The walls are peanut butter (unsure of the real name, that's the best description) with pops or deep orange to accent the brown & mustard. I love the combination.
I agree with some statements that the grey & mustard could very well become "officey" -- but I've been watching a lot of Mad Men as of late, so maybe that's why ;)
@Alex & @John the mirrors appear to be from CB2

With trendy colors, it's best to keep them in accessories like throws, picture frames, pillows and planters.
I've found a rich, warm mustard (not these cool, grayish-green mustards) to be a nice accent color if your room is mostly in blue, green and neutrals. It adds pop to the color scheme without drawing a lot of attention.
So I shouldn't find ways to hide the 1970s mustard furniture that I got from my parents...? :P
