Organized and everything in its place doesn't have to mean minimal and empty. Trish gets the idea with a colorful, whimsical style that feels warm and lived-in, yet is highly functional.
Our absolute favorite room in Trish's house is the cute and quaint bathroom. Tiled floor, a claw foot tub and a chrome organizer for white, plush towels. Adding to our jealousy is the unframed artwork depicting beach scenery (love). In the entryway, Trish keeps it organized but colorful with patterned file folders in wall pockets. She takes decorating with embroidery hoops to an entirely new level--alternating sizes help take the focus away from the flat screen T.V. and onto the decor. Keeping the color theme alive in the hallway, a bevy of scarves feels care-free and fun while having a place to land. More collections find their way into Trish's home in the form of unconventionally hung chinese lanterns-- adding to the playful vibe.

How do you keep the artwork from being water damaged?
Just to add - I think it looks beautiful and I'd love to do something similar in my bathroom.
agreed. it would make it feel like you're in the ocean, but the water wouldn't taste salty.
haha!
love this! where did she get the wall pockets and pretty file folders?
full house tour plz!
Love it. Does anyone know anything about painting the outside of a tub? I love the look, but have no idea where to start.
Hi all, Thanks for your nice comments! I thought it might help if I answered a few of your questions about my home...here goes:
Blixx- I actually have a shower curtain that wraps around the entire tub...so the wall doesn't get wet...nor the art. I figure, I bought the paintings while thrifting...even though they are probably worth money....I paid very little for them...so I'm not worried about damaging. Life is too short NOT to enjoy your art! :)
Joan in SB- I sell the wall pockets and file folders at my brick and mortar shop in Washington State. Sorry, we are out of stock....and we don't ship as of yet. :( Not sure where you can find the wall pockets...but the file folders are by Pa Pa Ya out of Oregon....hope you can find a dealer! :) P.S. Thanks for the vote on a full house tour :) if you are desperate...go to my blog via the "images" link above...there you will find a link to my flickr site...you can see lots more in "MY HOME" set. Thanks! :)
May- Painting the outside of a bathtub is simple...but hard work. Take your tub out (easiest with someone who knows plumbing) bring to an area with some space. Flip the tub over onto a piece of heavy plastic. Remove feet. Sand the entire tub and treat any rusty spots with Naval Jelly ( found at good hardware stores) and steele wool; clean well and allow to dry thoroughly. Prime the tub with a good spray primer (be sure to mask off the porcelain) then go over with your choice of color...I recommend a satin finish. I painted my tub feet white to compliment the porcelain; I think that looks best. Then wait for paint to cure...this is a must! Once truly dry, reinstall the tub. Voila...easy cheesy! Our bathroom has been like this for over ten years now...and we still love it!
Let me know if you have any other questions! :) I'm happy to help! Cheers! and thanks again for all your nice compliments! Trish :)
