Whether the entry door is a touch of color against a neutral background or part of a continuing blast of color for a modern home, the exterior door is a guest's first impression of what is to be discovered inside the house. In a block of homes, the bright door usually stands out amongst the rest. Growing up in a traditional neighborhood, I stand neutral when seeing a bright red door against a white exterior. However, my interest is sparked in seeing examples of other colors used in various styles and locations of homes.
We could generalize and say that certain color exterior doors reflect particular parts of the country or particular styles, but we would easily be proven wrong. Even though we used to associate a red door with a traditional aesthetic, different styles of red doors are often used in modern architecture.
What color is your exterior entry door? Would you go for something bold and bright?

Shaw's Original Fir...
My house is a terracotta color. I transformed my front door from plain white to bright turquoise (leaving all the rest of the trim, including the door trim, white). It perks up my entire house and I love it!
My new house is fairly modern in style, and currently painted a dark red. The previous owners painted the front door to match the house and installed a beige storm door as well. I would like to lose the storm door and give the front door a fresh coat of paint, but am not sure what color. I would like to repaint the house someday, but that is not in the budget right now. Any ideas for a good door color, to pop against a dark red house?
Recently painted our bungalow brick red with gray and white trim and a yellow door. Love the door. It's my favorite part of the exterior.
Amarie: What about an apple green? Very deliciously unexpected in my opinion. Or even a bright yellow? I'm still working on my front door. I painted it a bright orange, but didn't like it. Now it's yellow, but not bright enough for me.
My door is currently a medium brown (and covering up what was apparently mauve at some point). It looks bland bland bland against the light beige brick and brown trim. I'd like to do something bold--am thinking maybe a deep red to pick up on the dark brownish red specks in the bricks. Or perhaps even a deep purple.
Love the green. We have a white house with white front door. The door is new & I can t wait to paint it. I'd like a teal blue gray but DH isn't sold on that.
Greenish house (somewhere between teal and forest green) with white trim, black shutters, and a black door. I like it, even if it's not "colorful". I have heard that every house should have three colors seen from the curb -- and ONLY 3. Since the trim and shutters were a given, and a white door would (to me) have looked strange, black was the answer. If you don't go with that color theory, I might have chosen a red-orange, althought that seems very holly-berry in the context of the other colors.
There is a cute little Tudor home in my neighborhood painted off-white as is its front door. It makes the entire house blend together. I've jokingly told my girlfriend I'm going to paint their door in the middle of the night to make the house look more interesting.
I absolutely love the violet door with the flowers to match! The front door really makes a statement. It's a greeting to your guests, as well as an expression of the warmth of the people inside. My house is up for sale right now, but I hope my next house will be one that I can fully express myself with an outragiously bright door.
Hello,
Where can I find this front door (Lime Green Front Door next to Stair Case)? Or does anyone know what the style is called? Thanks for all of your help.
