Could you go for such a colorful home exterior? It seems in this case the beautiful architectural detail of these buildings helps ground their bright colors...
We've always been taken with that line painted down the facade of a row house. It's often a wavy, imperfect line that's simply a surface-applied division of one property from the next. Reminds us of the sitcom-esque duct tape across the shared bedroom of spatting siblings. The line we like best is at the far left of this photo, where the aqua and the blue meet. Those two facades must look stunning together.
What do you think? If you lived here, would you consider whether your facade color complimented or clashed with that of your neighbors'? Photo: Natalia Lis.

White Enamel Flatwa...
You know, at first, I would consider it... but the four storefronts on my block in Little Burgundy (represent!) just got repainted. One is a rusty brown, the next grey brown, the next clean white, then mine, the yuckiest brown I can think of...
At first I cringed and now, I see a palette of neutrals I never would have considered and I quite like it.
Ah, that's my neighborhood! Lovely houses, terrible foundations.
I am trying to convince my boyfriend we're painting our new house bright turquoise... he wants highway worker orange... so apparently we aren't scared of colour. LOL!
I know this Montreal neighbourhood very well as my sis lives there. It is so beautiful. The pic doesn't do it justice. And BTW, I'm a gal that loves neutral. Would never do it to my house, but in the right setting, obviously it works. I think the houses of the Plateau makes Mtl. one of the best cities in the world.
You found the colorful houses on the plateau! I was kind of waiting for that post to come, actually. This part of town is really amazing and ends up on many postcards of the area. You could have photographed that whole street and it would have looked spectacular.
Don't know if I'd have the guts to paint it that color for a single house, but it creates quite an effect when used in row houses.
Re-visit it in the winter...the snow makes the color come out even more!
That's the Plateau alright! I love how Montreal houses, even when not painted, are all different shades of brownstone.
Seb in mtl, you said just what I was thinking about the winter time making these look even better!
