If you have a love of maps (like we do) and a stash of fabric scraps, then here's a project for you. Instead of focusing on red states and blue states, why not make them floral, plaid, striped, and polka dotted? What a beautiful country that would be.

This is one of those great craft ideas that perhaps you've contemplated before but got stuck at the "now, how exactly would I do that?" stage. Kate from See Kate Sew figured out the details and wrote up a wonderful tutorial explaining how to download a poster-sized map and how to cut out the scraps and adhere them to a muslin backing. She even included tips like "start with California" and words of encouragement to get you through the tedium of the topstitching. We think the work would be totally worth it to have such a beautiful keepsake, and it would definitely transition well past babyhood.

OOOOOH this is lovely! Forget a child's room, I'd steal it! :)
Definitely doing this for my little man. I love the look and that it will use up so many of my scraps!
In. Love. But since I don't know if I I have the patience for this, I wish I could buy it on Etsy!
not only do i love the map (i'll probably do a canadian version, seeing as how i live in canada), but i also love the commentary. we'd all do a little better with less party lines and more polka dots! :)
