Dressing Up Windows with Colorful, Patterned Curtains

As much as I like breezy white curtains and natural blinds, sometimes you just need a little more color or pattern — or both. Here are ten instances where colorful, patterned curtains liven things up and pull the room together.

I like the idea of colorful patterned curtains because once you find the right fabric, they can sum up and showcase your style. From this outsider's perspective, that's the case with the curtains in the homes of Nicole Balch of Making it Lovely (Image 2) Sherry and John Petersik from Young House Love (Image 4) .

In the first image, I love the way the greens and the squares in the drapes play off the mustard edging and stripes of the sheets. In Images 5 and 9, the colors of the curtains are unexpected and playful. In all three instances, white would have been peaceful but way less interesting.
