At first glance, this appears to be mere raindrops painted onto a white wall. But that's no ordinary wall finish we're talking about. Read on to see what's been done…
To give the wall a canvas, painting-like quality, it's been covered in burlap, then plastered, then painted with a raindrop print reminiscent of something Magritte might have done. We love seeing this hard work come into fruition in the close-up shots. Just look at how much this looks like a painting:
For those interested in making a similar surface themselves, check out a very detailed (and entertaining) description from the folks who made it happen: Chroma Lab. There are lots more pictures on their site, too.

I've seen this texture on old walls in homes/flats/hotels all over Europe. I always assumed it was some kind of textured wallpaper used to stabilize aging walls. But now I'm wondering if it's burlap/plaster/paint.
Interesting.
Beautiful.
(and if you go check out the original source, there are funny kitty pictures)
Holy moly! Awesome texture, but looks like a lot of work!
You can get wall covering like this from a roll here in Europe, just like wallpaper but thicker and more resilient. You can get different textures even. You can paint over it with any color you want.
went for the kitties (cute)
stayed for the tutorial
good stuff
It looks like this stuff called plaster on a roll (or something similar) which would probably be a lot easier to use!
To be honest, I love this idea of raindrops in the bathroom, with or without the texture.
What about vinyl wall stickers?
I'm with you @ande2994.
No small amount of work... but what great results! Gorgeous. Nice blog, too.
Love the raindrops, but the texture gives me bad vibes. I live in Sweden, and that plastery burlap texture can be found in lots of places that hasn't been redecorated for the last fourty years, including school bathrooms, sweaty locker rooms and such.. Yuck.
Very cool. It would look great with a more elaborate wall stencil pattern as well.
I, too, went for the kitties, but stayed for the tutorial.
Wow... a lot of work, but totally worth it. I think I'd be up for just stenciling raindrops onto the wall.
Agreed. Lovely, and would be just as interesting w/o the texture...
Thanks for the information. As a design and manufacture company, we are always looking for new and innovative ways to improve the look and feel of a room or venue. Although we may not use every single idea we see, blogs like this are helpful for creative ideas. Thanks again.
