We love the random appearance of collected pieces of scrap wood and think it's even better when it's mismatched and colorful like the examples above.
Save up your own scrap pieces if you're renovating your home, or keep your eyes peeled for work sites where old pieces of wood are being torn out and disposed of. You could rescue the scraps for a much cooler destiny!

I saw some furniture made this way at Home Goods just this week. In small doses it was kind of fun, in a "country decor" way.
I like the look, but a lot of the paint on the old wood is probably lead-containing. I'd want to seal the whole thing, especially in light of the EPA's formal enforcement of it's Renovation, Repair, and Painting rule (RRP rule) relating to lead paint (since October 1, 2010). Any thoughts on the best clear matt sealant?

Where is that white desk from? Looks good.
That lamp! I'm drooling!
