Q: I'm moving into a beautiful 1910 duplex and while most of it is great, I'm at a loss as to what color/style to do the kitchen. It's a rental but we are going to be the new care takers so I'll have a little more leeway to change things. I usually like an eclectic or modern/retro sort of feel in my home.
The cabinets are new (& really not so bad) so painting them is out of the question. The counter is this ugly ceramic tile with a muddy grout color. Can I do a subway tile back splash with a tiled counter top? What wall color would look good with these cabinets without making them look really "country". The space is pretty big, large enough for a small island or cart, has large windows on the south side, and has 11 ft. high ceilings. Any ideas or advice would be much appreciated!
