This is my first color repeat,
but the context this time is completely different. I wrote about Claret last year
, but the furnishings and fabrics in that room were a bit more rustic, and we had painted the trim in a smoky blue...
By contrast the building in the opening photograph was new construction and the furnishings were more contemporary. We wanted something rich and dramatic to paint this small study.
Claret was the first really dark color I ever used to paint an entire room, and I think it works here because of all those windows and clean white trim. As I’ve said before, these dark colors are very sexy. After the room was finished, I wasn’t sure I wanted to go into it, but once I did I felt as if the walls were going to peel off my clothes and wrap their arms around me.
