Are things feeling a little stuffy and stale at home? The combination of hot weather and air conditioning working overtime can mean less fresh air. Give yourself a little low-cost/no-cost treat this evening, guaranteed to please your nose and set you up for some sweeter (smelling!) dreams tonight...

On today's How To Rid of Funky Smells comment thread, Kimithy shared a recipe for success:

I occasionally put on a "smelly simmer" - simmer a small pot of water with some freshly grated lemon peel/lemon juice and a few teaspoons of whatever nice-smelling essential oils I use for cooking and have handy (usually peppermint, orange, vanilla). Occasionally I'll add some cinnamon, rosemary or mint. I'll usually leave it on for about 15 minutes, and the apartment smells wonderful. Once it cools, I put it in a mason jar in the fridge to reuse.

Thanks for the idea, Kimithy!

Is this part of your routine at home? If so, please share your favorite ingredients for a smelly simmer in the comments below...
