While I love the modern alternative I chose, there are few styles that trump farm tables' good looks, durability, and versatility.
The fact that farm tables only get better with age imbues them a warmth and charm that carries over into the rest of a dining room. It also makes them a family-friendly and long-lasting option. To rework a Dr. Seuss rhyme, you can pair them with modern chairs, you can put them anywhere.

love that table runner in the first photo. any chance someone knows its source?
@alexia.roebas.schmidt the runner (and house) is emersonmade. I have her napkins and love them.
Love my farm table!! It has glitter permanently embedded in it from craft projects. Basically it holds our life story around this house.
also love the chairs in #1. anyone know a source?
Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. Love.
Crate&Barrel's Cucina table is LOVELY in person and really solid. I used it for (my first) client and really loved the tones of the wood top and the painted trim.
You can see it in their house here:

I have always loved the juxtaposition of a rustic table and modern chairs, or vice versa. It's a great look.
