Q: I don't really want to spend much more than $250 and Staples offerings aren't cutting it. I have found a couple chairs online but don't have any stores nearby where I can actually go sit in them before purchasing. Does anyone have any experience with CB2's Studio Office chair or Chiasso's Jr Executive chair? Or recommend another chair?

I have the perfect chair!! I love the Jules swivel chair from Ikea!! It's sleek, comfortable, and comes in different colors. Check it out here in my studio...

I recently bought the Allak chair from IKEA for $70 and like it.
My boyfriend has the CB2 chair and loves it.

I love this chair. It is amazingly comfortable, and it's only $140 so it's easily within your price range.
There are 22 reviews on the website and they are almost all 5 stars. It also says the bungees are replaceable if one breaks.
I got a really nice steelcase chair (leather, padded, very comfy, super sturdy, on wheels!) for $100 from a used office furniture/equipment store locally. There are probably ten such stores within 15 miles of my small city, so depending on where you live there might be some options near you. Much better quality than what's available at Staples and much less pricey than the exact same thing new.
Hey I'm the one who asked this question. I'm not sure how they determine which city to post this on because I'm actually in CT.
People really seem to like those bungee chairs, I wish I could sit in one before purchasing. I also wish they would build a Container Store in this area. The closest one is over an hour and a half away.
I'll have to see if I can find any used office furniture stores.
I also like this chair and think I can find it cheaper on ebay

I have had the bungee chair for about a year now and I really like it. I find it very supportive as long as I remember to sit with my butt all the way to the back - otherwise, like any chair, it doesn't magically provide lumbar support. The bungees have held up well and I have no complaints.
My only comment is if you have a tendency to wear shorts or short skirts (if you are female) then you will get bungee lines on the back of your thighs.

I have the exact chiasso chair you mentioned. it's very cute....BUT - the material discolors very easily. the back is now grayish and the front is yellowing - I don't know why it's discoloring in two different directions. Gray and yellow was a very popular color scheme there for a while - maybe the chair wants to participate. Very odd.
Also - and this could be my fault, but be aware - it isn't very sturdy if you are too sturdy. When i sit my XXL arse down in it you can hear the click click of the cheap wheels sighing under the pressure of way too many lipids. I swear they are saying, "Ugh, you again? Why didn't we go to Mary Kate and Ashley's house instead?" The answer to this is simple - MK and Ashley can afford a better built chair. I got what I paid for so shut your cheap wheels.
Finally it adjusts for height ...sometimes on it's own. Sometimes it just thinks- you are too big for your britches, I will knock you down a few pegs and it will just bring you back down to size. Often on a conference call. Where you will yelp like a little girl because you are having that dream where you are falling but you are awake.
Good luck with your search.
I have been looking at office chairs, too and I'm trying to stick in a similar budget. I am thinking about these on Overstock.com:

The look very similar to the ones that you show in your link and come in a nice assortment of colors. Plus, the price is very good. There are lots of options on Overstock--you should check it out.
I cannot find a picture anywhere online, but I bought this chair from Ikea:

in the cutest pattern. It is somewhat geometric, with dark green lines and teal and yellow shapes. It's really comfortable too, and looks so great. Has anyone else seen this, or was it some kind of Brooklyn exclusive? I have yet to see it anywhere but my Ikea (and my house.)
Found it!

Although, it looks so much better in person. The color is lighter and prettier.
A writer friend of mine posted this same question on facebook a couple months ago, and another writer chimed in that she loves the Airgo chair from Potterybarn Teen. I personally haven't sat in one (the rest of the recommendations were for Aerons and similar) but might be worth looking into since it's a decent price. http://www.pbteen.com/products/perforated-airgo-chair/?pkey=cdesk-chairs
We have the CB2 chair and we love it. Admittedly, we were a little trepidatious when we bought it, having not sat in it beforehand, but the CB2 reviews convinced us to give it a go. Most of the reviews seemed to match our experience with the chair pretty well. Easy to put together. Sturdy. Surprisingly comfortable. Light weight and nice looking.
We've experienced two downsides relating to the openness of the chair:
1. In the winter, it can be quite cool. We've addressed this problem by putting a nice blanket in the seat when we want to warm it up a bit, which works quite nicely. And the upside of this problem is that, in the summer, the chair is quite cool as well. Which is a very good thing.
2. Our cats don't like it. We decided to be ok with that before we bought it. And the upside of this problem is also pretty obvious. No cats in our chair when we want to sit in it!
All in all, thumbs way up on the CB2 chair.
I have the Ikea Markus chair. It looks great and is super comfortable. I get lots of compliments on it. I got mine on CL for like 60 bucks, but even 200 new at ikea is within your budget.
I would suggest look for used office furniture dealers in your area and get a real ergonomic task chair. You can search CL too. These types of chairs are very well made and will last a long time. Most are made in the USA.
I have a Humanscale Freedom chair I can sit for long periods at a time and love this chair.
Chairs are very personal, everyone sits in them differently. I would make a list of the ones you are interested and go to their showrooms to test drive.
Here is a great deal on the Haworth Zody Mesh chair- this is a very popular chair because it is so comfortable and universal.

Keilhauer "Simple" chair is affordable and super comfortable. Made in Canada.
I have Ikea Joakim chairs and like them. For the price, there's a decent ergonomics. The seat pan can slide forward when you recline and it has good back support.

My domestic partner has an IKEA Markus, too, and he likes it a lot. I don't sit at my desk enough for it to matter, so I have a Pier One chair mostly for the few minutes a week when I pay bills!
I've got the CB2 chair and like it a lot. I put an Ikea sheepskin over it and a small pillow for lumbar support. Maybe that seems like a lot of work and extras, but it's not really.

I find ergonomic chairs to be comfortable.
