Consider The View When Setting Up Your Space

Not drawn to scale

Friend and fellow Apartment Therapy editor Abby stopped by last week to check out our new home and give us advice on setting up the living room. And while Abby's expertise whipped our den into shape, it was the bedroom where her know-how really helped us out.

Initially, we had our bedroom set up as shown on the first page (with our bed underneath the windows). We liked the symmetry the windows created as a "faux headboard" and had seen it done previously on AT. But when Abby arrived, she walked around the room and stood in different places (where the bed could possibly go). As she stood next to the wall where our bed is now positioned (as in drawing above) she noticed that we had quite a view. Positioning the bed on this wall would afford us views to the front and the side. Not to mention, the back of the apartment sits high off the ground so it's not possible for outsiders to peek in. And while we may have come to this conclusion eventually during a furniture rearranging session, considering the view was something we didn't originally think of.
