Contact paper doesn't usually get us very excited. But creating cheap and cheerful wall art with it hadn't occurred to us. Stephanie tells you how she did it.
We spotted the above chevron wall over on Design Sponge. Stephanie walks you through the process step by step on her site. It seems pretty simple, though we're certain we might still make a mess of it if we aren't careful and patient.
She also did these birds in a past apartment.
This seems like a great DIY resource for the nursery or kids rooms. One thing to note is that Stephanie says her walls were lath and plaster- not drywall and that if you do have drywall- you might not want to attempt this one.

We used contact paper to make wall decals and the biggest problem we had was in finding a wide variety of colors to work with. It worked great!
I love this! But does it ruin the paint?
thanks for the post!
I've been told not to put contact paper on drywall... and it tends to leave a sticky something behind if it's on too long!
(yes, I know her walls were not drywall, but a warning to those who DO have drywall!)
Off topic: I really wish those pretend dead animal heads would go away.
Three years after applying them, the wall decals we made out of contact paper peel up easily, with no noticeable impact on the paint. Which is good, because we're renting.
