For those of you fighting hard to keep your playroom or play area from looking like daycare, feast your eyes on this room. We're calling it a low-key family space.
It's most definitely a home with young children and their needs are front and center, but not at the expense of the parents' tastes. The vintage table (perhaps cut down) mixed with the modern children's chairs placed in front of the fireplace is perfection. We can't help but to imagine the parents having tea on a sofa nearby while the young children draw and do homework. Everyone together.
This inspiring room is the work of interior designer Tineke Triggs. If you like this, you can check out more of her work on her site or over at her gallery at Houzz.

Z2 iPod Dock and Wi...
I can just imagine the mountain of kids' stuff piled directly behind the camera.
My thoughts exactly, Nellymom!
Yea it definitely doesn't look like a play space but the "kid section" of a fancy store!
Those kids have textas, but no paper? Recipe for disaster in my house - they'd be drawing in those lovely books instead!
I would love to live here!!! I'm a minimalist, but a realist with two little boys- those cubbies next to the fireplace would be filled with baskets/bins to hide all the toys kids inevitable accumulate. I could also see a big rustic wooden bin under the table to house some of the larger toys. And my boys would be racing around that house on their plasma cars- noisy at times, but bliss to have them so happy on rainy days. When can I move in?!
Nice idea but not real life.....except maybe at grandma's house. Too many "no's" in this room.
Floor is great...durable and easy to clean. Table is great....but too near the fireplace for safety. Love having books nearby. Love the uncluttered look and I really love the sliding barn door!

Can anyone explain how the face of the fireplace is made? I love it.
Yeah, my living room would look awesome too, if there weren't anything IN IT.
Also, those chairs look REALLY uncomfortable.
