Whether moving into a studio apartment, dorm room, or even a house, sometimes having an extra bed comes in handy. While pulll-out sofas can be cumbersome to move, these four convertible seating options seem lightweight and portable.
Clockwise from top left:
- The back of the mid-cenury inspired Night and Day Sofa from Urban Outfitters folds down to create a bed. With tweed upholstery and solid wood legs, it's a modern, covenient update of a classic style.
- The Fornells Convertible Sofa not only converts into a bed, it can be separated into two chairs/beds. Oh, and the seat swivels 360 degrees, too! This fun sofa is available in red or cream fabric.
- The West Elm Clark Sofa reclines to create a twin size bed. Upholstered in stain-restistant, tufted faux suede over a hardwood frame, this quality sofa will hold up to years of use.
- The Cushy Lounge Collection from PB Teen is a casual seating option that is one part floor pillow, one part sofa, and one part bed. This relaxed collection is available is seven colors of faux suede.

I like that Clark sofa from West Elm, does anyone have reviews of it?
I recently noticed online that Urban Outfitters also has some decent looking convertible chairs too.
i like the aesthetic of the styles urban outfitters offers for living room seating options but have steered clear because of the online reviews. has anyone had a good experience with these? everything i've seen has poor quality written all over it. sigh.
it would be helpful if you listed prices (or ranges) as well.
@roxy72: I own the Clark sofa from West Elm and I love it. I have a 1 bdr. apt. and it's great for overnight guests. My husband and I also used it when we were in the middle of painting the bedroom. It's comfortable and the neutrality makes it easy to decorate around it. I got it for $999.
Don't bother with the Night and Day Sofa from Urban Outfitters. It's poorly designed and features shoddy workmanship. We have one and it's already falling apart after six months of medium use. Read the reviews. Don't waste your money. Even Ikea makes better quality furniture than this.
My sofa looks exactly like the Fornells Convertible Sofa, except grey-- maybe it is the same brand? I bought it at Inspiration for about $1000 so I imagine it can be found cheaper on the mainland. It weighs a ton, but is fantastic in a tiny apartment because it fits literally every need for seating I have. The weave of the fabric also show no signs of being clawed by cats.
I really like the one made my PB Teen. I would just get the giant floor pillow (ottoman?) next to the sofa, but it's still super cool.
I have a couch from Room and Board that converts into a bed that retails for $999 also. It sits in our second bedroom that we use as an multi-purpose area. It's perfect since we use it as a couch and is fairly comfortable, albeit be forewarned that it is on the firm side.

i have the night and day sofa from urban outfitters and would agree that the craftmanship is a little shody (the holes did not line up for instance when it came time to attach the arms to the base and i had to drill extra holes), however, i've had it for over 6 months now and i've used it every day, my dog is always on it and multiple guests have come over to sit on it and some to spend the night after it's been folded down to a bed...and it's held up nicely this whole time. it's not the most comfortable couch in the world, but it looks good and (up til now) has held up
