Marie Clare Maison describes the Marseilles mill turned loft of Lebanese-born stylist, set designer and artist Mitri Hourani as a "temple to recycling." Used as both a home and a workshop, the space is filled with eclectic items the designer has creatively reclaimed and repurposed.
Hourani made it a priority to preserve as much of the former mill as possible during the renovation. To the stone walls in what became the living room, he simply added transparent shelves to maintain the original look of the material while adding a place to display found glassware he transformed into a unique floral display.
The couch, made of cushions on wheels, is covered in bed linens with the idea that redecoration will be as simple as changing the color of the top sheets and rolling the pieces into a different configuration. The coffee table is a white washed palette with drawers added for storage.
Each room is filled with personal items and designs that turn a formerly industrial environment into a warm and charming space.
