When you move or renovate your home theater area, you'll most probably want to get rid of a dated entertainment center. The trouble is that there are quite a few on the market and the newer low-slung versions can be quite costly.Expedit TV Storage unit in 2007. It served dual purposes. It housed their HDTV and all of their DVDs/books, as well as hiding an ugly fireplace. In their new space, they decided that a longer and lower TV/bookcase would serve their needs best as it would stretch the entire length of the room. After researching and finding only a bunch of built-in expensive options, they decided to take apart their Expedit and reassemble it the way they wanted. They had all the parts. All they needed was to put them together the right way.
Actually, they needed a few extra pieces, including material for the end pieces, some wooden planks, plus an MDF board cut to size and painted. The whole thing came together quite nicely and set them back less then $100, which is pretty amazing. Sure, the top surface has a few superfluous screws, but those can easily be covered up. Nothing beats reusing and repurposing your own furniture. All that's needed is the right inspiration and you can easily get it done. IKEA furniture is easily suited for this.
