Product Designer Brendan Ravenhill creates pieces that have a paired down simplicity — utilitarian, elegant, and playful all at the same time. His Cord Lamp was inspired by Jean Prouvé's Potence Lamp, but the the affordable lights are designed to fold flat and ship in a standard poster tube.
The swing arm lamps are perfect for bedside lighting where they don't waste valuable night table real estate and can be adjusted for reading or so as not to disturb a sleeping partner. Hand cast in Los Angeles, the lamps are made from plastic, steel, wood, electrical components, and cloth cord. The cord lamps are available on Brendan Ravenhill's website for $170 with $20 from each sale going to Amnesty International for their work supporting non violent protest.
