I live in a really special 1920's bungalow originally designed for the Hollywood Starlets to stay in when they would be filming a movie at one of the major movie studios nearby. I love to think about who might have lived here and what glamorous and beautiful things they decorated this space with.
When I was first looking for a new place in LA, I knew I needed something that felt like a little private home as I was coming from my own house and couldn't bear to be in a typical apartment with neighbors on all sides. I found this place and immediately fell in love.
There,of course, were a few issues:
- There is ONE closet. ONE.
- There was a side by side washer and dryer in a tiny service porch area (happy about the washer and dryer but really wanted some extra storage room.
- I have three cats and I wanted to make it feel "uncatty". The space itself is very small and I wanted to make it feel chic and Hollywood glam without sacrificing any of those elements to accomodate my fur babies.
I have really enjoyed spending the last 10 months going to flea markets, auctions, estate sales, scouring Craigslist and finding hidden gems of antique shops to make this place what it is today. Everywhere I look, I see a piece I love. It's a perfect mix of more is more (Tony Duquette and Hutton Wilkinson my heroes) to Hollywood Regency glamour (Kelly Wearstler my idol). All that and totally functional and cat friendly. I Hope you enjoy!
Thanks Cornia!

White Enamel Flatwa...
The lamp in the second picture is incredible! I haven't seen anything like it. I love this space. So glamorous and feminine. I'm crazy about it.
This house is amazing. Every single picture is going in my inspiration folder.
Is the screen fabric-covered or stenciled/transferred?
Would love to see kitchen and bath.
It's really pretty. But I sure would fold back one of the panels on that screen so it's not blocking the window.
House Tour, please! Very, very cute! I would love to see the kitchen, bathroom and more. How many square feet is it?
it is very cute. i think you could hide the a/c with floor to ceiling curtains hung the full length of that wall. it would probably take 4 panels. the extra bunching would look very luxe.
Thank you everyone for the love on the apartment. The screen is fabric and is from the 30's. I want so badly to fold it back to let more light in but it is pretty inflexible! You can only submit 5 pics but the kitchen and bath are lovely as well. I am not sure on the square footage but I am guessing it's about 700?
That pink flamingo picture -- be still my heart! This isn't my style, but it's done in such a restrained and elegant manner that I'd move in in a heartbeat without a single change.
I wanna see the rest of your bedroom! It looks so pretty.
Beautiful, I love this place!!!!
I loooove your blue armchair. I've been looking for one JUST like that.
Where did you get it? Is it comfortable as a living room chair? What is that type of chair called?
Thanks! Really hope we get to see a full tour!
I'm loving the cat, too!
more pictures!!!
How do I post more pics?
Corina- I'd love to give you a full tour! You can see my other work if you search "bethany nauert" in the search bar- or visit my site bethanynauert.com !
I'm in love! What a tease... need more pics for sure!
Heather-
The chair is sooo comfy, velvet and down filled cushion. I got it at a consignment store in Northern California for $90. They have a similar chair on ballard designs

Hope that helps!
This is gorgeous! too girl-glam for me, but you have done such a great job I just had to say so!
I just love all of the layers of white and blue in the public rooms. What a treasure the whole space is. I live with 3 boys ranging in ages of 7,10 and 50 so this is a personal dream for me! Great job!!!
Hey Corrinne,
Your place looks great! I am hoping you check this. I AM IN THE EXACT predicament coming from a house the thought of an apartment with common walls(GAG) and the houses I am looking to rent are in the high two's and not even nice. Is there any way you can email me or I can send you my email(because I assume there are other bungalows in your complex area(they usually come with more than a few in the area.) I have been panicking about his as I have small pets as well, and this would be right up my alley. Thanks girl! Lexxi
OMG I just realize I have the same couch. Is your's grey? I got it from Macy's. We are like the same person. You rock girl. :) Surprised I haven't seen any mirrored furniture. :)
i adore your space - glamorous and beautiful!!
This space amazes me. You have really thoughtfully placed your furniture. In other words you are space conscience. Love it!
Gorgeous, love the fat (fluffy!) kitties and the generous dents on the sofa back cushions ... That's where my cats lounge as well.
Such pretty pieces, well edited, very elegant.
On first glance, your place felt claustrophobic to me... however, I think you have a great eye for objects and vignettes (a fan of Tony Duquette, I see!). I think a few small changes would open it up even more:
-The screen is beautiful, but overshadowed by the partially obstructed window and a/c. If it's really inflexible, I would put it somewhere else altogether- behind your bed, the white iron would pop.
-With the console under the window and the chair next to it, the door could open freely. Also, a longer rod would let the curtain gather just outside the window, letting in more light.
-Finally, I'd hang the sconces higher and over the chairs... everything the same, just blown up a bit.
Love the space, airy and bright.
what a cute place ! i love how the current resident is connecting to the history of this house.
