Lion

aka: Josie (7 months)
location: Appleton, WI
age group: infant
difficulty level: not especially easy (but worth it!)

materials: fleece, faux fur, ribbon, felt

description: Since this was my first try at a handmade costume, I followed this pattern.
Thanks Missy!

Lion

aka: Akash (9 months)
location: Walnut Creek, CA
age group: infant
difficulty level: semi-easy

materials: fleece, ribbon, felt, sewing machine, McCall's pattern # M6105

description: The pattern was relatively easy to sew. It's a simple footed pajama and a removable hood w/ ears. The pattern directions require lots of little strips of fabric be cut for the mane, and individually sewn on. Too much work! Instead, I purchased various colors of ribbon and hot glued them on the hood. It worked great.
Thanks Anu!

Lion

aka: Rex
location: Cleveland, OH
age group: toddler
difficulty level: not especially easy (but worth it!)

materials: corduroy, faux fur, fleece, sewing machine

description: I wanted something memorable for Rex's first costume. I found a pattern for a lion costume and added some personal touches! The hat is made from corduroy with faux fur on top to create the lion's mane. The body of the jumpsuit is corduroy with zipper in the back so that he can easily wear it over a onesie or clothes!
Thanks Megan!

Lion

aka: Francisca (1)
location: La Serena, Chile
age group: infant
difficulty level: super easy

materials: A fabric strip and wool

description: It was so easy! I used brown pajamas and two fabric strips for the legs and one larger for the head. On each strip I crocheted a piece of dark brown wool. Finally, I painted a black nose and voila, here we have a little lioness!
Thanks Alejandra!
