Princess Leia

aka: Evie (5 months)
location: Waterloo, ON
age group: infant
difficulty level: semi-easy

materials: White cotton for the dress with velcro for the straps. Brown yarn and felt for the wig. White onesie and tights.

description: I copied the dress from another that was the same shape. For the wig, I cut a strip of felt that was the length from my daughter's "bangs" to the nape of her neck. Then I laid long strands of yarn all the way down the felt and sewed them on the felt. I put the "wig" on my daughter and then formed the buns so the wig was snug on her head. I tied the buns together and added a bit of glue.
Thanks Amy!

Yoda and Wicket (Ewok)

aka: McKenna (6 months) and Sprocket Monster
location: Seattle, WA
age group: infant
difficulty level: semi-easy

materials: Green fleece for ears, feet and hands. Green pajamas under the robe. Scrap fabric for robe and hat.

description: I made the two Yoda feet by cutting a larger version of what I wanted out of fleece and then joining it at the seams. I stuffed them with extra fleece scraps. For added texture and effect I colored on the fleece with markers. For the robe I laid out the pajamas on the scrap fabric and cut out the shape for the robe and stitched the side seams. The base layer is green pajamas, which she wore inside out and backwards. For Sprocket I cut a shawl-shaped piece out of scrap fabric and stitched the one seem to make a hood.
Thanks Dawn!

Princess Leia

aka: Willow (2)
location: Toronto, Canada
age group: toddler
difficulty level: semi-easy

materials: White fabric, an old belt from the 80's and a Dollar Store foam sword with the foam removed

description: My mom sewed a simple little robe and we added a belt she had saved from the 80's. I removed the foam from a foam sword to reveal the little light saber looking handle underneath.
Thanks Leyla!
