Having lived in South Pasadena a few years back, we grew to love and really appreciate the 1920s style bungalow. Charming and identifiable at a glance, these homes are chock-full of design characteristics so you don't have to start at square one. Courtney's bungalow is no different, with beautiful windows and doors as decorating inspiration.
Courtney's home has been updated to represent a more modern approach to the bungalow. There's an emphasis on a lighter color palette like soft grays and an all white master bedroom. Hints of turquoise find their way into the interiors landscape with beautiful posters and a playful shower curtain. Exposed brick in the open kitchen is refreshing and airy. The spacious feeling is continued upstairs with floral patterned window film instead of curtains.

Howard Butcher Bloc...
Wow -- very serene environment. I love the use of wood in the kitchen bar/counter and in the bathroom.
I have that shower curtain!!! I love all the white but I have 2 big dogs so it is a bit impractical
Very nice. Even the TV looks good on the wall above that lovely cabinet. Thanks for sharing.
Fantastic.
Where is the shower curtain from? I NEED that!
I love everything about this house, especially the fact that you can barely see any of the wires around the TV and sideboard! Any tips you could share on how you managed that?
Very, very successful mix of modern and rustic as well as various styles. It's difficult to mix these and not make it look like a mishmash. I also love all the great little details! Nice job Courtney!!!
These photos were disorienting. I'd like to see a house tour. Pretty place.
agree would love a house tour. The clipboards holding art next to the TV are a cool idea
Beautiful - and I do love the almost-but-not-quite-arranged-by-colour books by the bed in the first picture (usually I'm not a fan of the arranged-by-colour look)
Thanks so much for all the nice comments, and thank you Beth for writing this! 2manydaves: the shower curtain is from Target. WhyLime: most of our wires are actually inside the wall. We tried to hide as many of them as possible when we gutted it and still had the walls open. We also use wire organizers behind the furniture.
I'm having some serious kitchen envy this morning...
Lovely! I'd probably hang artwork over the bed, but that's just me. Love the kitchen and that credenza (!)--nicely done.
The conifer art is a Canadian classic, and sooo amazing! What a lovely home... thank you for sharing! (:
Please no more books organized by color. Otherwise I love your place.
Brilliant! As much as I'd hate to gut my house, the appeal of finally ridding my floors of wire-clutter is tempting.
Lovely. House tour please!
Can anyone tell me where the sconces above the bed in the 1st photo are from? They'd be perfect for my bedroom.
Can you tell me where the window films are from? I want to do a similar treatment in my bedroom but can only find the "etched glass" kind. Thanks, and you have a gorgeous home!
I think the sconces above the bed were bath sconces from Restoration Hardware, but they were a clearance item. The window film is designed by Emma Jeffs, and I found it here. Hope this helps!
Thank you!!!
courtney i love the color of the bathroom, could you tell me the color you used. thank you, chris
