Drawn in by this very cute kitchen with double wheeled butcher block islands, we found inspiration a-plenty in the Portland craftsman it belongs to. The rolling design of the islands allows maximum flexibility in a small kitchen.

The "twist" referenced by the title of the article accompanying the slideshow on Sunset refers to something we're very familiar with here at AT: mixing and matching styles with the furnishings. We wouldn't have it any other way, really.

I love the bedroom - I'd love the kitchen if the islands actually had any use storage wise.
i love the bathroom tile. cleverly makes a little bit of tile look like a huge statement.
Am I the only one that really doesn't like kitchen islands? I find them a nuisance - continually walking around them and when you have a house full of guests, it's even worse. I can understand the added counterspace, but ...
At least these ones are on wheels.
I love the dining room -- great combination of craftsman and mid-century modern... and I don't even like mid-century modern (sorry AT)
The kitchen islands look too top heavy. Are they?
The brown walls are tinted plaster instead of paint - love it.
Honestly, rolling islands that you have to line up? Looks great but hardly seems functional. And, am I the only one that thinks that kitchen is not "small?"
I think the islands look cute, (and I generally don't like them) but they do make the kitchen seem smaller.
Maybe if it were just one intermediate sized butcher block island? Don't know. But in terms of contrast and added counterspace, they somehow convinced me to give them a hypothetical chance.
i LOVE the islands but i think that two might be too many.
Based on the amount of space and countertop visible, I would not call that a small kitchen. Even if the photographer is standing in the far corner, that kitchen is twice the size of mine. I'd love to have room for even one tiny rolling island
Love the colors and the bathroom tile job is brilliant.
On the other hand, I am really disturbed by the dark beam diagonally over the bed.
Nice but whats with that blue tile stopping half-way along a wall in the kitchen - would have looked a million times better if they'd taken it up to the window frame
i LOVE this house.
