Crate & Barrel Goes Green

Green is officially mainstream. Crate & Barrel's new Lockport Collection has been constructed with sustainable materials. Consisting of the Lockport Apartment Sofa ($1999.) and the Lockport Chair ($1199.) it's C&B style with an eco twist.

Here are the construction details:

"Frames are constructed of hardwood certified by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative and the Forest Stewardship Council.

Plump seat cushions are filled with Preserveā„¢, the first soy-based poly-foam, then wrapped in downproof ticking.

Back cushions are made from recycled post-consumer fibers and encased in downproof ticking.

And these crisp whites do not need to be slipcovered because we've chosen a white cotton fabric specially treated to prevent stains. Leg stain and fabric protection are environmentally friendly, water-based products."

Good for Crate and Barrel - we hope the collection sells well; it will be interesting to see where this goes next...
