This past May I got to sneak preview all the new items being offered by Crate & Barrel, Land of Nod and CB2 at a big, unified preview on Manhattan's west side. It was great to see things close up with a personal tour from Marta Calle, Crate's new president and the creator of CB2, and to see how much things are changing. Working more closely with outside designers, pushing more style and rethinking the store experience are all on deck for the new year.

Are those some sort of collapsible bed frames in the first photo-- the tented Land of Nod photo? If so, will those be for sale? Always looking for interesting portable bed options...
Oh, I do like that gingham chair! It's accessorized strangely in the photo, though.
Heidi - They are army cots. Not very comfortable but it keeps one off the damp ground. Should be able to pick one up for $5 to $10.
Do I see an Ikea wannabe here in the making? FDon't get me wrong, I love the look, just hoping the prices will be lower so that our hip new nester's will be able to afford the wonderful look!
If someone showed me Apartment Therapy post I'd never guess it was yours. Not remotely close to your relentless standards. A first. Oh, well. It's summer ...que cera cera...
I love that wrap bench!
And it's a fine post btw!
What fun stuff! Thanks for the reminder to give the Land of Nod another look - I always assume it's for kids only.
Nice marble top table - any prices yet?
Not loving any of it other than the adult lighting at Land of Nod. Hopefully its just a small fraction of their fall collections.
Somebody forgot to finish weaving that bench seat.
I'm feeling it, love C&B designs, especially CB2. I only wish CB2 would bring back some of the lamps and the Teepee table from a couple years back.
Wasn't this event back in May or something? Is there an embargo on when you can show it? Most of this stuff I've already seen in the stores or on the cover of the catalogs. I appreciate you sharing what you saw, but would have loved to have seen it back when it was still a "preview"!
can't find that bold plaid comforter cover on the land of nod site, but it looks nearly identical to one i've been seeing on l.l. bean's for a a while.
also - the cots, certainly not $10, but byers of maine still makes them, i believe.
Land of Nod is definitely playing up the Moonrise Kingdom vibe. I like it.
The Yellow lamp from CB2 is on my wish list :)
While the items are all well and good if that mid century style is your look, I just think there isn't much new here that they are adding. It just doesn't excite me.
And maybe its just my mind set, but I think A LOT of this can be DIY'd or Hacked.
I did like the idea of the hurricane with the candle, and the red checked peice. I agree that it was akwardly styled. They could have gone quite modern/ sleek with it or gone modern country with it, and they did neither. They just threw some stuff on it that frankly, looks like a 16 year old girl looking for her shoes in her bedroom.
Did you see the QUEEN painting at the preview? It is now sold out and on re-order.
I think CB2 is trying to go head to head with West Elm, hence the further organic elements. I heart Land of Nod, though--lots of colorful, fun stuff. Glad to see that maybe the personality will spread a bit to C&B...I don't even go in there anymore, it's such a snooze.
