This, just in. We are feeling like taking a moment and appreciating that big lovable ox of a store, Crate & Barrel. While not the hippest shop in our town, we and others have been finding some really nice things there lately. Here's some notable picks:
The Stripes Felt Pillow - Just simple felt, with great colors.
The Claret Armchair - they show this in leather. Forget it. The shape is beautiful and should be covered in a fabric - a classic piece.
The Seguro Mirror - A really gorgeous mirror. The photos do it NO justice, but in person, it is rich and elegant (in a tasteful-cowboy-with-money, manly sort of way). What I think is brilliant about it is that it would make sense of ANY kind of wood collection someone has, and eases those afraid to "mix woods" elegantly past their fears. It also has the look of a repurposed found object.
The Hunt Drop-leaf - Could really multi-task, as sideboard, console/sofa table, dining table, desk. Bottom drawers go all the way through. Me like-y.
The Aviator Table - Like the thick glass and much more urban style than usual.
The Pebbles Shag Rug - This is a copy of the expensive modern German rugs that we have seen at ABC. The photo does it no justice. This would be great in a kids room or living room where you can be on the floor.
The Kona Bamboo Rug - Innovative use of sustainable flooring: bamboo.
The Poet Chair - Like the unusual choice of orange leather on this small scale but comfortable chair. (Thanks, Patrick!) MGR
