Admittedly, I've had a loft space that we left open in order to skateboard and ride bikes in. It was extra awesome and I highly suggest it if you ever get the chance. That said, this house takes that idea to the extreme as almost every surface was meant to do some sort of skate trick on or over.
We ran across this skateboard friendly home over at Shelterpop. They've taken a closer look at the home that architect Francois Perrin built. It was intended for a pro skateboarder, so it's not really for your average family.
The question is, would you like it to be? Sure you'd spend a great deal of time sweeping, but if you had the space would you like something like this for your home? It's beautiful in that clean and modern sort of way, but leaves some parts feeling a little cold and uninhabited. Share your thoughts on the space below and make sure to hop over to Shelterpop to see more of this unique space.

Dear Lord, I hope no one lives below them!!
Looks like a very cool idea!
I'm a bit concerned about the glass top table, though...
Wow! I'm amazed at the idea and the execution of the design...it doesn't really feel like a "home" so much as a hang-out, but then I'm also not a skateboarder.
I wil always have a special place in my heart for skateboarders. It takes an artful eye to glide the streets with grace.
LOVE! My hubby would love to do something like this more suited for bmx/urban mountain bike riding. I wish we all had the luxury to create a space that is truly all about the things we love to do and be surrounded by. In this case, these guys are fortunate enough to surround themselves with skateboarding all the time. That really rocks!
There was a man-child on HGTV Design Star a few seasons ago who put a half pipe in the community residence. It seemed so selfish and ridiculous, yet he went on to be the runner-up that season.
If I had a large enough loft space, I'd seriously find a way to put in a half tennis court with ball machine.
@ngnerd, that was Todd. I was so annoyed by him all season and even though he was runner up he still ended up with his own show, Room Crashers.
As to the post, great for a bachelor pad, but skateboarding isn't something I would want to encourage inside my house. lol
This was my dream as a kid! Too bad I didn't keep up with skating- as this would totally be a reality now.
If i'm not mistaken, it was actually made for an (art) exhibition in Paris (Public Domaine - Skateboard Culture du 18 juin au 7 août 2011)
I don't think anyone really lives in it. Might be fun for a week end though...
grow up!
very cool
Really cool!
