Most of us may not have the opportunity to have our apartments designed by the famous architect Luis Gutiérrez Soto, but that doesn't mean you can't borrow a few ideas from a gorgeous space and apply to your own. We look into three elements that basically make up the beautifully balanced home office space you see above.
First, the seating area. Think of it as a simple area allocated in a corner of a room, dedicated to a single purpose - sitting. That and relaxing, of course, along with any reading, laptop computing, or simply dozing off. Keep it uncluttered, pair it with a side table, and have books/your favorite e-Reader within reach.
Onto the desk. Again, keeping with the theme of simplicity, there are no wires on the floor, plenty of natural night from nearby windows, and a clean desk surface to get work done. We'd probably get a taller chair to get the eye level-to-screen up a bit higher, but otherwise, a fantastic little setup.
Details, details, details. Bookshelves, wall art, and sculptures may seem tedious if you're not the decorator type, but even the smallest heirloom-like item will give the entire room a different dynamic. If you're feelin' festive, throw up a sombrero. If you're feelin' angsty, have some albums readily available from The Cure. Your home office is what you make it.
