When we spotted the video of this sphere in action we thought about how the cats in our lives would react to it. Some would not like it, but others would love it. This DIY project is easy to make and is a playful and clever way to integrate more lighting into a space.
Wanting to to create a simple unpredictable electronic device, Instructables user Saronpaz designed Haphazard, a random lighting system.
This project is very simple and all you need are a bunch of LEDs (the maker recommends using more than 15, for the unit pictured he used 150), a 3v battery (2 if you are using around 150 LEDs), and a transparent sphere (easily found at a hobby/craft store).
We think this is a fun and easy project and would be please the cats in our lives immensely. Because the dogs we know would crack this thing open in few minutes we would not recommend giving this to a dog to play with. The Haphazard would also make a neat lighting fixture/ conversation piece that would be fun to roll around when dealing with writer's block.
