Recently on Dwellings, I found this image of this bedroom. I am in love with the entire look and feel of the space; its dark painted raw brick, the chevron striped bedspread, the urban vintage appeal of the decor. Here are a few easy solutions to recreate this look in your home.

First things first, paint your walls a dark charcoal. You could opt for a true dark grey or lean towards something with indigo or even purple in the base. Depending on the decor you choose, these swatches from Benjamin Moore give you a pretty nice range. If you want to recreate the worn chipped paint effect on the walls, Portola Paints has great finishes and washes for this very look.

Urban Outfitters is carrying this chevron striped comforter set and it's available in several colors!

This style of metal basket is easily found at many vintage shops, but if you don't have luck there, this similar one at Restoration Hardware will do the trick.

If you are looking for accent pillows to give you extra comfort for sleeping or just to create a fuller look at the head of your bed, adding extra pillows always helps. I found these great ones at Crate and Barrel.

Finding blue antique bottles such as these can be easy. You just need to scavenge sites like Etsy or Ebay. This collection was found on Antique Bottles.

The white bed side table in the inspiration photo seems to be a white painted wood table. I imagine it may look something like this one I found at Urban Outfitters.

I found this vintage metal industrial cabinet, which has the same look and feel as the one in the inspiration photo, on Ebay. With a bit of digging I bet you could find one on Craigslist or your local flea market.

Last but not least — where to find that vintage dress form? I found one very similar on Etsy, where you can find many others. Also, local flea markets and vintage shops are a great resource for authentic antique forms and also newer reproductions (which will be more affordable).

Thanks for the virtual shopping trip. You did all the hard work! I love that photo...
I love this concept...showing us a beautiful room and listing us where to get similar products.
"Sensible Chic" on HGTV used to do this ... I don't think it's on the air any more. They typically did a very good job of reproducing inspiration rooms on a (relatively) small budget. This would be a good idea for a regular column.
Yes, I agree with jamieo. But, use a nice room and not one that looks like there is mold growing on the walls!
Sabrina Soto is doing something similar now on HGTV in the High/Low project. They're also going to make it a column in the new HGTV magazine.
Thanks for the tips! This should be a regular post on AT. Possibly let readers send in a photo and AT can post where to find items to create the look.
Love the industrial cabinet you found! :)
That industrial cabinet is awesome, but the whole room looks a little...off. It sort of screams hobo-chic or industrial squatter, to me anyways, and I'm a wierd one.
Does anyone know where to find great office storage products in Massachusetts or New Hampshire? I found www.grahamwaste.com and am looking for others for comparison.
I love a dark bedroom. I just moved to a new house and am working on recreating something like this for myself. I might need to paint my walls dark grey now after seeing this!
The room is nice, but I LOVE this column. More, please.
Agree with itsjustgoldie, this post would be incredibly useful as a recurring thing!
While this room isn't my taste, I LOVE the concept of this article!!!!! Breaking the room down into elements and pointing out how we can grab them ourselves. MORE OF THIS PLEASE, APARTMENT THERAPY!!!!!!!!!
Does anyone know the manufacturer of the chevron linens in the original photograph?
Thanks!
Hi everyone, thanks for the positive feedback on the idea behind my feature today! I agree, this may need to be a recurring "feature" :) I am so pleased you all enjoyed it.
Yuck, chevrons. Not into that room, it looks specifically designed like a catalog, just to show off that bedding. The chevron bedding. Yuck.
