All of our family walks these days ends with me having a bunch of broken dried leaf bits in my jacket pockets. My kids are enthralled with collecting all the fallen leaves this time of year. So when I spotted Jennifer's (of The Write Start) idea of making your own autumn leaves and creating a family tree, I knew this was the project for us.
Jennifer starts with collecting leaves with her children and then tracing them onto coffee filters. Once cut out she has the kids paint them using a mixture of food coloring and water. Once dried have your kids write down family members' names and then affix to a tree branch. This is perfect for Thanksgiving decorating when out of town family comes to visit. They'll delight at seeing their names on the tree. And for those loved ones who can't be with us, it's great way to remember them! Check out Jennifer's blog The Write Start for detailed instructions and more photos.
