To me, hammocks are the epitome of relaxation. Beach views aren't included when you hang one in your home or backyard, but you'll feel like you're on vacation once you put your feet up in that hammock. Given that you can hardly do more than read or sleep in a hammock, they offer a laid-back way to lie back and enjoy whatever space you're in. In a backyard, the benefits are obvious. (If you don't have any trees to use, there are freestanding options from companies such as Brookstone and Fatboy.) Inside your home, you'll gain an unexpected seating (or sleeping) spot — just be sure to bolt it into wall studs.
